Outperforming the Competition

Exalto welcomed a brand new customer this quarter, Castoldi S.r.L. Based in Milan, Castoldi has been a leading manufacturer of waterjet propulsion systems for over 50 years, specialising in efficient, long lasting and self-contained propulsion units.

Castoldi first approached Exalto as an alternative supplier of rubber-lined cutlass bearings when their supplier stopped offering bearings made from a Phenolic shell

I first approached Exalto in October as I was looking for a new supplier of Phenolic shelled, rubber-lined bearings for our propulsion systems” commented Mr Fabio Pitzalis, Castoldi’s Manufacturing & Purchasing Manager,  “and was surprised and delighted by the overall service I received from this new company. My enquiry was dealt with the same day and the 30 bearings I required were in stock and could be delivered to Italy in under a week

Andy Ong in Exalto’s UK Sales department dealt with Castoldi’s enquiry “the bearings they wanted only needed some slight modification to the length so working closely with production we were able to get these all machined, packed and despatched in under a week, as required by the customer

On receipt of the bearings, Mr Pitzalis reported to Sebastiano, Exalto’s local Italian representative, that the quality of the bearings as well as the support from the Exalto team and speed of the delivery was excellent.

When some questions arose regarding sizes of the bore, Exalto was quick to respond and reassure. As Andy Ong explains “the customer had some queries over the clearance but we were able to quickly get back to them and explain that the swell factor for Phenolic bearings was different to Steel bearings and we therefore machined the bearings to accommodate the increase in size that would occur once the bearings were submerged in water

Delighted with the service and product he received, Mr Pitzalis intends to move all future business over to Exalto, “as soon as my existing bearing stock runs out, I plan to move all of my bearing business over to Exalto in the UK, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them, the quality of service was excellent from start to finish
